August 26, 2019 -- New York, NY

Roger opened up the ATP night matches at the 2019 US Open on Monday in NYC in front of an electrifying crowd.

Facing 22-year old Qualifyinger from India, Sumit Nadal, fans were shocked to see Roger drop the first set. However, all he needed was a little time to shake off the dust and reach top form as the number 3 seed played beautifully and took the next 3 sets with ease. Roger won the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

"It as a tough first set for me, because I had the lead and then he came back really strong," Roger said. "It all came back just in time, and in the end I played good tennis."

Roger is looking to win his 6th US Open at 38-years old.

He faces Damir Dzumhur in the 2nd round.
