ROGER FEDERER NEWS

March 31, 2019 -- Miami, FL Roger does it again and adds yet another title to his resume today after winning a decisive final at the Miami Open. Facing big serving John Isner, Roger raced to a quick lead and took the first set with little issues. In what seemed to be one of his easier matches of the week, Isner later called the trainer to help address a foot injury that was clearly hindering him. Staying focused with his eye on the prize, Roger maintained focus and did what he needed to do to get the 6-1, 6-4 win in just over an hour. This is his 4th Miami Title, 28th Masters 1000 Title and 101st Career Title. "It was a dream start, relaxing my nerves [to break in the opening game]," said Roger. "What a week it's been for me. I'm just so happy right now. It's unbelievable. I played here in 1999 for the first time and here I am in 2019. It means a lot to me."
March 29, 2019 -- Miami, FL Experience prevailed over youth in both semifinals at the Miami Open on Friday. After John Isner took out the Canadian teen, Felix Auger-Aliassime to seal his final spot in Miami, Roger later faced another young Canadian, Denis Shapovalov, in the second semifinal. Looking nervous against the veteran, Roger proved too strong and confident and took the match routinely 6-2, 6-4. He reaches his 50th Masters 1000 final, which is the most of any ATP player. He will face John Isner for the chance to win his 28th Masters 1000 title and his 101st career title. “I enjoyed it. I think I played very well. I had to. Because I think when you let Denis play, he's got some serious power, and he gets rhythm going. He can really put you in uncomfortable situations,” Roger said. “So I think I did well, and I'm very happy how I played.”
