Team Switzerland came away with their 3rd Hopman Cup Title this past weekend.
Roger and Belinda Bencic took home the trophy for Team Switzerland after defeating the German team of Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber.
Roger battled the young German, Alex Zverev, in singles and came away with the first win beating him 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-2. In the women's match, Angelique Kerber defeated Bencic 6-4, 6-1 forcing them to leave it up to the mixed doubles to determine the win. The Swiss came together to win 4-3(3), 4-2 in the final match.
Roger won all four of his singles matches in Perth. And the last time Roger hoisted the Hopman Cup trophy was back in 2001 with Martina Hingis as his partner.
“After all these years I can’t believe I’m here again,” noted Roger. “It’s absolutely amazing. I’ve lost count of the years, I’m thrilled to win the Hopman Cup again with Belinda, it’s been a pleasure to partner you this week, well done.”
Next up for Roger will be the Australian Open.

Roger and his Swiss partner, Belinda Bencic, will be representing their country this weekend in the finals at Hopman Cup. The two have played superb tennis to get the year started and will face the German team of Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber in the finals.
The Swiss players went undefeated in Group B beating Japan, Russia and the USA to get to the finals against Germany.
Roger visited Rottnest Island on his first full day in Perth for Mastercard Hopman Cup 2018.
“I love it here” said the 19-time Grand Slam champion, who is representing Switzerland in Perth alongside Belinda Bencic for the second consecutive year. “It’s the perfect place to begin the Australian summer of tennis.”
The highlight of his afternoon was undoubtedly the selfie he snapped with the quokka, Rottnest Island’s famous native marsupial. “I thought it was going to be like a bigger mouse but it’s more like a smaller kangaroo.” said Roger. “But it’s very cute.”
Roger will begin his Hopman Cup campaign on December 30, when Switzerland plays Japan.
In a glittering career, spanning almost two decades, 2017 has been an exceptional year...
There's no doubt about it, Roger made a statement in 2017.
Not only did he win 2 Grand Slams but he finished the year with 5 ATP titles, a Laver Cup Team Win and a handful of awards including Comeback Player of the Year, ATP Fan Favorite and Sportsmanship Award. And don't forget, in between breaking records left and right Roger also put on several fundraising events for the RF Foundation.
Let's take a quick look on what made 2017 so memorable!
Roger started the year off on the right foot as he dazzled and impressed the world with his play at the Australian Open. Finding himself matched up against his long time friend and tough opponent, Roger and Rafa put on quite the show during the Finals in Melbourne. Roger came away with the win after 5 grueling sets. This win put Roger back into the top ten and was his 18th career Grand Slam title.
Spring in the States proved to be successful as Roger captured the Sunshine Double, winning both the Indian Wells BNP Paribas and the Miami Open. Fans who thought they may never see the Swiss play his Spanish rival ever again, were treated to the "Fedal" matchup at both tournaments. Roger made quick work of Nadal this time and went full steam ahead to win his 5th Indian Wells Title. Roger and Rafa met in the finals of Miami where the Swiss used his serve to remain aggressive and win the title, collecting his 26th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Title.
After spending half of 2016 rehabbing injuries and preparing for 2017, Roger decided to make rest an important part of his schedule and skipped the 2017 French Open, allowing him to focus on the grass and hard court season.
The choice was wise as Roger held Match for Africa events and went into the grass season strong. He earned his 9th Halle Title and went into Wimbledon confident. After two weeks of impressive play at the All England Club, Roger solidified his excellence at Wimbledon beating Marin Cilic in the finals to win his 8th Wimbledon Title and 19th career Grand Slam.
Roger joined Team Europe in Prague in the fall to compete and capture the Laver Cup title. The format featured thrilling singles and doubles matches. Laver Cup proved to keep Roger on his toes and put him in fine form as he captured the Shanghai Masters 1000 Title by beating Rafael Nadal once again. He then traveled to his hometown of Basel, Switzerland to win his 8th hometown title by beating Juan Martin del Potro.
Roger wrapped up the year at the ATP World Tour Awards and by collecting his 50th win of the year at the Year End Finals in London.
2017 was a record breaking year for our favorite Swiss player and we can't wait to see what magic the Maestro will produce in 2018.
