August 14, 2019 -- Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Roger is back in action this week as he took to the courts last night at the Cincinnati Masters. Despite a rain delay, Roger looked confident as he begins his US hard court season. The 38-year old needed just an hour to win the match 6-3, 6-4 and displayed a serving master course against Juan Ignacio Londero. Currently ranked number 3 on the ATP, the Swiss Star is aiming for his 8th title in Cincinnati.

August 8, 2019 Roger has been elected to join the ATP player council. Joining him will also be Rafael Nadal and Jurgen Melzer. The openings on the council came about when Jamie Murray, Robin Haase and Sergiy Stakhovsky resigned this past June. It is no secret it has been a bit of a turbulent year for the ATP Player Council with the ATP President being ousted in March and board member, Justin Gimelstob, resigning in May after some personal issues off the court and being sentenced for assault. The concil is currently led by Novak Djokovic and is made up of 12 men which include, singles and doubles players, as well as coaches. They meet next in New York before the US Open.

July 14, 2019 -- Wimbledon, UK

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer made history on the court today as the battled for over 5 hours, pushing the final match to be decided by a tiebreaker at 12-12 in the 5th. Unfortunately, despite two match points, Roger came up short today and lost a hard fought instant classic 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(4), 4-6, 13-12(3).

Novak beat Roger today for the 3rd time in a Wimbledon Final (also in 2014 and 2015) and the 5th consecutive time overall. The Serbian edges closer to Roger's milestone of 20 Grand Slams as he now has 16 under his belt. 

The crowd was behind our Swiss star as the match took several turns but Roger just couldn't come up with the goods in the tiebreakers today. He played with passion and dictated well, but the Serbian held on and kept the pressure on to capture the win.

July 12, 2019 -- Wimbledon, UK

In what have could have passed for the Wimbledon Finals, Roger and Rafa faced off for the 40th time today in the Wimbledon Semifinals!

In a close, tight first set, Roger squeaked out the first set breaker to jump ahead. But Rafa came roaring back and decidedly took the second set. 

The points remained epic as the two battled with Roger edging Rafa on the 2-week old grass courts which were playing a bit slow today. 

Roger finally converted match point for an emotional victory over his long time rival, 7-6(3), 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

He will be looking for his 9th Wimbledon title on Sunday against Novak Djokovic. 

July 10, 2019 -- Wimbledon, UK

Roger has hit yet another milestone in his career today. The 37-year old has now won 100 matches at Wimbledon and is the first player to do so! Quite the feat. 

To get to 100, he faced the always dangerous Kei Nishikori, who came out firing and captured the first set. Roger found his bearings in the second set and looked more relaxed as he dictated and controlled the tempo for the rest of the match. Roger was victorious 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 and into the semifinals to face his long time rival, Rafael Nadal. 

"It's special...It's been a lot of years I've been coming here. That's given me the opportunity to win a lot, naturally. I didn't think of it while I was playing today. Actually not at all, not once. Then as I'm signing, the guy says, 'Congratulations for your 100.' It's nice, because if I look back at the hundred that have happened, some were so incredibly cool. Today again was a big match going into the semis [to face] Rafa, now that he won. A hundred wins here at Wimbledon. Who would have thought? I didn't for sure."
